Pitta Bread
Serves 7 (approx)
Ingredients
- 1.5 lb Bread Flour
- 1 packet dried yeast
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup tepid water
- Sprinkle of mixed herbs
Method
- Put the flour, yeast and salt into a large bowl.
- Mix together the egg, oil and water.
- Add to the flour mix
- Knead well.
- Cover with cling film.
- Leave to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes
- When risen, add the herbs and knead again.
- Break into small pieces and roll out flat.
- Dry fry in a frying pan on a high heat for 1 minute either side.
Serving Suggestions
Delicious served hot with falafel, hummus or fous or as a side dish with most main dishes.
